Stock Tickers
Stock Tickers are computerized tool that relays financial
information to investors around the world, including the stock symbol, the
latest price, change and volume on securities as they are traded or
minutes after (10-20 minutes delayed)
In financial websites tickers are used to display live quotes from
one stock exchange or from combined exchanges.
There are two main aspects that webmasters interested in displaying
a stock ticker on their websites have to face:
- quotes data source: where to get stock quotes, what technology to
use on server side;
- displaying quotes: how to show the ticker, what technology to use
on client side;
There are also some seconday aspects:
- badwidth / availability: can your website handle the transfer of large and
fast updating amount of data?
- customization: how to configure looks, what symbols to show,
what features etc.
